Access to biomarker testing can transform cancer treatment by identifying the most effective therapies for patients. Yet, many face barriers due to lack of insurance coverage. The Massachusetts Biomarker Testing Coalition is stepping up to change that with a lobby day at the State House. This event offers a powerful chance for patients, advocates, and supporters to join forces and push for the passage of H.4339, a bill that would improve access to biomarker testing in Massachusetts.

If you want to make a real difference in patient care and health policy, this lobby day is an opportunity you cannot miss.

What Is Biomarker Testing and Why It Matters

Biomarker testing analyzes specific molecules in a patient’s tumor to guide personalized cancer treatment. It helps doctors choose therapies that target the unique characteristics of the cancer, improving outcomes and reducing unnecessary side effects.

Despite its proven benefits, many patients struggle to get biomarker testing covered by insurance. This gap means some patients miss out on treatments that could extend or save their lives.

The bill H.4339 aims to require insurance providers in Massachusetts to cover biomarker testing when it is medically appropriate. Passing this law would remove financial barriers and ensure more patients receive the right care at the right time.

Details of the Lobby Day Event

The Massachusetts Biomarker Testing Coalition is hosting a State House lobby day on Wednesday, May 13th, from 10:15 am to 2:00 pm. This event brings together patient advocacy groups and supporters to meet with legislators and advocate for H.4339.

The day will begin with a brief training session in Room 437 to prepare attendees with key facts and talking points. After training, participants will visit legislative offices to share personal stories and urge lawmakers to support the bill.

Registration is required to attend. You can sign up here: REGISTER HERE
