President Elect

Victoria Germon, MSN, RN, OCN

With over a decade of oncology nursing and education experience, I currently serve as an Oncology Clinical Educator in Hematology at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. In this role, I build collaborative relationships with patients and patient care teams to address educational needs, enhance shared decision-making, and improve disease state awareness. I develop strategic educational plans for academic and community settings, supporting advocacy and optimizing patien outcomes throughout New England. Previously, as a Clinical Nurse Educator at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), I supported educational initiatives for research nursing across several heme and solid tumor specialties. I partnered with interdisciplinary stakeholders to integrate evidence-based practices and drive research process improvements across DFCI. Prior to education, my earlier roles include Assistant Nurse Manager for Oncology Services at Beth Israel Lahey Health, Clinical Research Nursing in gastrointestinal and breast oncology at DFCI, and bedside Hematology-Oncology/BMT staff nursing at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH).

I am actively involved in several professional organizations focused on advancing oncology nursing including Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), where I am engaged with eight regional chapters, Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN), Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL), and International Association of Clinical Research Nurses (IACRN). I am also an inductee to the Sigma Theta Tau International
Honor Society of Nursing as well as National Society of Leadership and Success. In my current role I collaborate with several local and national patient advocacy groups, including the International Myeloma Foundation, to provide education and support. Committed to professional development and nursing advocacy, I have attended and contributed to numerous local conference settings, including ASCO and ASH reviews, APPOS, Dana-Farber symposiums, and multiple ONS monthly meetings and vendor fairs. In my current role, I have sponsored and participated in two patient-support conferences, reinforcing my dedication to patient-centered care.

My diverse professional background including direct patient care, leadership experience, pharmaceutical experience, and active engagement in professional organizations, places me as a strong candidate for the role of President Elect. Over the past decade, these various settings have allowed me to develop exceptional collaborative, organizational, strategic, and communication skillsets which align with the
responsibilities of this position. As a cancer survivor myself and caregiver to a cancer patient, I would add personal perspective to providing nurses with authentic understanding of the emotional, physical, and psychosocial needs patients and caregivers face. I am proud to be capable of bridging professional practice and patient experience and would love to share this with BONS!

Director at Large

Lauren Sullivan, MSN, RN, AGCNS-BC, OCN®, BMTCN®

I bring over 15 years of oncology nursing experience spanning direct patient care, nursing education, program development, leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration within leading institutions such as Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and most recently as an Oncology Nurse Educator for AbbVie Pharmaceuticals. My roles have included managing large clinical teams, supporting nursing practice, and driving strategic innovations in hematologic malignancies and cellular therapies. I have developed and led robust clinical education programs, established institution-wide initiatives, and co-chaired key institutional committees aimed at improving patient care, education, and safety.

Active involvement in professional organizations underscores my dedication to the broader nursing community. I have served as an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Boston Chapter since 2012, including roles in developing content for review courses and educational seminars. I was an active member of the Greater Boston Nursing Collective, and participate in the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. Through these affiliations, I have fostered connections, organized educational opportunities, and advocated for excellence in oncology nursing.

I am committed to professional development, demonstrated by multiple presentations and posters at major conferences—including the ONS Congress, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Nursing Program, and international symposia. My educational background is complemented by board certifications in oncology, blood and marrow transplant, and adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialty, and has been further recognized with honors such as Dana-Farber’s Certified Nurse of the Year.

As a candidate for director at large representing the Boston Oncology Nursing membership, I offer forward-thinking leadership, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for education and advocacy. I will champion the interests and needs of our members, promote innovative practices, and ensure our chapter remains a source of connection, inspiration, and professional excellence. My experience in both academic and industry settings uniquely positions me to bridge diverse perspectives, drive initiatives that translate science into practice, and cultivate a vibrant, inclusive community. I am dedicated to empowering our chapter’s members to deliver the highest standard of oncology care across Boston and beyond.

Emily Beale, BSN, RN

Dear Members of the Boston Oncology Nursing Society Nominating Committee,

I am writing to express my interest in serving as Secretary for the Boston ONS Chapter. With more than twenty-four years of oncology experience across clinical nursing and oncology industry roles, I have seen firsthand how critically important professional collaboration, clear communication, and high-quality education are to advancing patient care. Throughout my career, ONS has been a trusted resource and an avenue through which I have gained knowledge, support, and meaningful professional connections. I am eager for the opportunity to give back to the organization that has played such a significant role in my professional growth.

My professional journey began in women’s oncology, a path shaped by my grandmother’s stage IV ovarian cancer diagnosis during my senior year of nursing school. That experience inspired fifteen years of dedicated clinical practice at institutions such as Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, where I also embraced leadership roles including serving as preceptor, nurse in charge, and nursing supervisor. In subsequent industry roles, I continued to build on this foundation, serving in positions that required strong organizational skills, cross functional collaboration, and disciplined communication, competencies that closely align with the responsibilities of the Secretary role.

As I continue my commitment to supporting oncology patients in my full-time work, I feel compelled to devote my time and attention to giving back within the professional community dedicated to their care. Leveraging my twenty-four years as an oncology nurse, I bring a deep understanding of both the clinical and professional needs of this community. My longstanding engagement with ONS includes completion of the ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification, maintaining active membership across 8 ONS chapters, attending and participating at national ONS meetings, and engaging in chapter meetings and events across five Northeast states. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the vital role chapters play in advancing oncology nursing practice and professional development.

Serving the Boston ONS Chapter as Secretary would allow me to contribute meaningfully through accurate record keeping, transparent communication, and effective coordination of chapter initiatives, including sending notices, maintaining meeting minutes, and monitoring and recording attendance at member and board meetings. I am fully prepared to support additional responsibilities as requested by the Board of Directors or the President throughout the two-year term. Just as meaningful, I look forward to learning from the board and our members as we collaborate to strengthen our shared impact.

Thank you for your consideration. It would be an honor to serve the Boston ONS Chapter and contribute to its mission of advancing excellence in oncology nursing.

Caroline Callahan, AGACNP-BC, RN, MS

I have 19 years of experience within the oncology field. 18 of those years were spent as a RN and then NP at Mass General Hospital in Boston. I worked the majority of my career inpatient on a heme malignancy, BMT/CART unit and did ~1 year as a responding clinician NP on the solid tumor unit before moving outpatient to the MM clinic. 1/29/24 I started as a clinical nurse consultant at Bristol Myers Squibb for the heme onc division. Currently I continue as a CNC providing education to institutions in the NE area on CART/IO therapy/Reblozyl.

I have not held any ONS or similar positions but prior to the pandemic I was part of MGH Global Health and was involved w/committee in developing BMT curriculum for RN's in Bangladesh, taught virtually and also traveled there x5 to be a consultant as they prepared for and then administered the first SCT's in the public hospital.

When I commit to something I give it my best. This is something I have been thinking about for a while and I do think with some training and experience to how things work I will be an asset to the team. Thank you for considering me.

Marykate Kilcommons, BSN, RN
Membership Chair

My professional oncology experience began in 2021 when I started working as a research nurse in the lymphoma department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In this role, I provided direct clinical care to patients on clinical trial treatments, including assessments, education, toxicity management, and supportive care. I also assisted principal investigators with protocol development, recruitment, and conduct. During my time as an oncology research nurse, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the ANCC Magnet Conference in 2022 and the American Society of Hematology Meeting and Exposition also in 2022.

Currently, I am a research nurse professional development specialist on a team of three that serves as educational resources to oncology research nurses in approximately 22 disease groups within my institute. As a member of the nursing leadership team, I am dedicated to fostering a culture of continuing education by advancing the skills and knowledge of our nursing staff through curriculum creation, implementation, and assessment. In this role, I am mindful of designing a curriculum that aligns with both regulatory standards and evidence-based practice.

As membership chair, I would look forward to welcoming new members to BONS and assisting the board in maintaining ongoing and renewed memberships. I also hope to serve as a resource to help members network and connect with others in the Boston ONS community and beyond. I feel I can bring enthusiasm and dedication to the membership chair role. I am a dependable team player that the BONS board can rely on to help to promote and maintain membership to the organization.
